The Bibliography

Cross-Reference

The cross-reference mechanism allows making a references to items listed in the bibliography. This mechanism is responsible of:
  1. The style the bibliography is displayed
  2. The styles of the citations inside the text in the document
El mecanismo de referencia cruzada permite hacer referencia a artículos listados en la bibliografía. Este mecanismo es responsable de:
  1. El estilo con el que la bibliografía se muestra
  2. El estilo de las citas dentro del texto en el documento

Tip
When you edit the Bibliography, you must add a label to each item.
Cuando usted edita la Bibliografía usted debe agregar una etiqueta a cada artículo.

Citation

Once you have assigned a label (or tag) to an item in the bibliography, you can make a reference in the text using the keyword \cite{...} as shown in the examples; in this case the item has the label ref:smith2017 assigned. In the PDF document, \cite{ref:smith2017} will be replaced with the number of the reference, the author name with the year, or other specified format.
  • Example 1: It has been shown the air may be polluted, see \cite{ref:smith2017}.
  • Example 2: It has been shown the air may be cleaned in some areas, see \cite{ref:smith2017,ref:hicks2022}.
Una vez que usted ha asignado una etiqueta a un artículo en la bibliografía, usted puede hacer referencia en el texto usando la palabra clave \cite{...} como se muestra en los ejemplos; en este caso el artículo tiene la etiqueta ref:smith2017 asignada. En el documento de PDF, \cite{ref:smith2017} será reemplazado con el número de la referencia, el nombre del autor con el año o otro formato especificado.
  • Ejemplo 1: Se ha demostrado que el aire puede estar contaminado, vea \cite{ref:smith2017}.
  • Ejemplo 2: Se ha demostrado que el aire puede estar limpio en otras áreas, vea \cite{ref:smith2017,ref:hicks2022}.

Citation Style

It is the way a citation is displayed inside the text in the document.
Es la forma en la que la cita se muestra dentro del texto en el documento.

NATBIB

It is a package that can be used to change the citation style including the natbib package. With this package, you can use:
  • \citep{smith2017} for a cite with parenthesis: (Smith et al. 2017)
  • \citet{ref:smith2017} for a text cite: Smith et al. (2017)
  • \citet{ref:smith2017} same as \cite{smith2017}
  • \citet*{ref:smith2017} for a cite with full author list
  • \citeauthor{ref:smith2017} to display the author: Smith et al.
  • \citeyear{ref:smith2017} to display the year: 2017
  • \citeyearpar{ref:smith2017} to display the year inside parenthesis: (2017)

Es es un paquete que puede ser usado para cambiar el estilo de la cita incluyendo el paquete natbib. Con este paquete, usted puede usar:
  • \citep{smith2017} para una cita con paréntesis: (Smith et al. 2017)
  • \citet{ref:smith2017} para una cita de texto: Smith et al. (2017)
  • \citet{ref:smith2017} lo mismo que \cite{smith2017}

Bibliography

There are two methods to manage the references or bibliography in a document:
  1. The Bibliography The BibliographyThe Bibliography in this method the bibliography is embedded in the document. Thus, you must write the list of references in each document. This is useful when you are planning on writing few documents in the same subject. The main disadvantage is that you need to write the bibliography for each document.
  2. Bibliography BibliographyBibliography in this method the bibliography is automatically created from a Bibliography Database File (*.bib)
Hay dos métodos para administrar las referencias o bibliografía en un documento:
  1. The Bibliography The BibliographyThe Bibliography en este método la bibliografía está dentro del documento. Así, usted debe escribir la lista de referencias en cada documento. Esto es útil cuando usted está planeado en escribir unos pocos documentos en la misma área. La principal desventaja es que usted necesita escribir la bibliografía de cada documento.
  2. BibliographyBibliographyBibliography en este método la bibliografía se crea automáticamente desde un archivo de Bases de Datos para Bibliografía (*.bib)
